Last summer was the start of my granola obsession. Yet, I wasn't able to find one in the grocery store or Target that I liked. So I decide that I would try and make my own. At first I thought that it would be really complicated. But let me tell you, its so not! I took a recipe from the food network and made a few changes to get it exactly how I like it!
Click here for the original recipe. You can reference to it if you need to. You can add more nuts or anything else you may want. I have it written out how I like it below.
INGREDIENTS
3 cups oats
1 cup sliced almonds Click here for my favorite almonds
1/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons dark brown sugar
1/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons maple syrup
1/4 cup of vegetable or canola oil
3/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup (or to how you like it) mini chocolate chips (perferably the California Gourmet ones. They are the best chocolate chips hands down) You can purchase a pack of 6 on their website. Click here Also check your local Kosher grocery store.
STEPS
Preheat oven to 250˚F
In a large bowl, combine the oats, sliced almonds, and brown sugar.
In a separate bowl, combine maple syrup, oil, and salt. Combine both mixtures and pour onto 2 sheet pans. Cook for 1 hour and 15 minutes, stirring every 15 minutes to achieve an even color.
Remove from over and transfer into a large bowl. Once completely cooled, add in the mini chocolate chips. Mix until evenly distributed.
Store in an air tight container.
There are so many ways to eat granola. I eat it with yogurt. Personally I am not a fan of greek yogurt, until I tried the Normans creamy blends in Madagascar vanilla. This stuff doesn't have that greek yogurt taste, and I love it!
